13-Year-Old Boy Killed by Car While Playing Near Highway

A 13-year-old boy from Kiryat Ata died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle on the Acre-Haifa highway near the Tze'bar junction. The incident occurred during the "bridge" holiday period between Yom Kippur and Sukkot. Emergency medical services (Magen David Adom) responded to the scene around 11:10 PM, finding the boy unconscious with no pulse or respiration and suffering severe, multi-system trauma.

Paramedics and EMTs immediately began resuscitation efforts, including CPR, artificial respiration, and defibrillation, while transporting him to Rambam Hospital. Despite their prolonged efforts, doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead. The cause of the boy leaving the playing area and entering the busy road remains unclear.

According to initial traffic police investigations, the boy was with friends near the highway when, for reasons yet to be determined, he went onto the road and was hit by a passing car. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical treatment. Traffic investigators from the Coastal District are continuing to probe the circumstances of the fatal accident.
