Ambassador's Son Critically Injured in West Bank Car-Ramming Attack

Neria Leiter, son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter, remains in critical condition following a car-ramming attack at the Maccabim Junction on Route 443 on Wednesday. He underwent complex neurosurgery and emergency medical care, with doctors at Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center stating that multidisciplinary teams are continuing intensive treatment to save his life. The hospital's social services are supporting the family.

Ambassador Leiter, who was in New York at the time of the attack, immediately returned to Israel. He expressed gratitude to the IDF and the Shaare Zedek medical team for their efforts, stating, "I believe in the power of prayer and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle." The family has urged the public to pray for Neria Dov ben Chana's recovery.

Neria Leiter had been serving in the reserves following the death of his older brother, reserve commander Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who was killed in combat in northern Gaza. Since October 7, he had completed hundreds of reserve duty days on various fronts. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Shaare Zedek Medical Center to meet the family and join their call for prayers before departing for the UN General Assembly.
