Arab Israeli Community Sees Drop in Murders Amidst Ongoing Violence

Official figures indicate a decrease in murder victims within the Arab Israeli community compared to the previous year. As of the current date, 174 individuals have been murdered, a reduction from the 190 recorded during the same period last year. Police officials attribute this decline to intensified efforts against crime organizations, citing the arrest of leaders, restrictions on their movements, and administrative detention orders. "The Inspector General emphasized the fight against crime organizations, including Hariri, Bakri, and Abu Latif," stated sources, noting that enhanced surveillance on shooting suspects has also been implemented. Police Commissioner Danny Levi asserted, "We will not tolerate those who instill fear through weapons. Those who pose a danger will confront the police, and we will make them regret their actions."

Despite the overall decrease in fatalities, violent incidents, including shootings, persist. In the city of Tamra, eight people were recently injured in a shooting, including a sports teacher and a young man with special needs. One of the injured, Mohammed Abu Al-Hija, described how assailants shot him and his son, who has a 100% disability. "My son, who understands nothing due to his disability, was shot while sitting on the steps. When I came out, they shot me too," he recounted, expressing his despair and considering acquiring a weapon for self-defense. He urged the police to combat this phenomenon forcefully before further murders occur.

The article also highlights the profound grief of Umm Omar, a grandmother who lost three grandchildren and their cousin in a recent incident where their bodies were found burned in a car near Highway 6. "I never imagined I would lose three grandchildren at once. Amira Basimi, the mother of one of the victims, Yahya, added, "My son and the others were murdered in cold blood. These are human monsters." She criticized the authorities, stating, "Personal security is gone, and we live in a difficult war where any one of us could lose their life."
