Gush Etzion Industrial Zone Approved After 25 Years

After more than 25 years without a new industrial zone, the Gush Etzion Regional Council has received approval from the Civil Administration to deposit plans for a new industrial area in "Hafurit." The zone, slated to be located near the Ha'Ela junction, will include factories, logistics centers, and other commercial uses, aiming to provide a significant future revenue stream for the council.

This new income is expected to enable further investment in resident services, education, culture, infrastructure, and the continued development of settlements in the Gush Etzion region. Yaron Rosenthal, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, emphasized the importance of industrial zones for local authority development, stating that they provide the economic foundation necessary to invest in residents' quality of life.

Rosenthal added that promoting industrial zones in Gush Etzion has been a priority since he took office. He described the approval as a significant moment, marking progress towards a new industrial zone after a quarter-century wait. While acknowledging that the process is lengthy and will take time, he expressed excitement about the prospect of improving quality of life, enhancing educational and cultural investments, and continuing the development of Gush Etzion. He credited the council's team and many others for their hard work on the project.
