Israel Formalizes New Boundaries for Settlements in Gush Shiloh

Israeli authorities have officially established new boundaries for the communities of Kidah and Yishuv Hadaat, located in the Gush Shiloh region. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Yesha Council Chairman Israel Gantz announced the publication of these new borders, which encompass 1,665 dunams (approximately 411 acres). This demarcation paves the way for the construction of over a thousand new housing units in these settlements.

The decision stems from Israeli cabinet resolutions made over the past year. By officially recognizing Kidah and Yishuv Hadaat as distinct settlements, legal obstacles to comprehensive development plans have been removed. This move concludes a multi-year effort by residents who have sought the legalization of their communities since their establishment in the early 2000s.

Finance Minister Smotrich praised the residents' resilience, noting they waited approximately 25 years for official recognition. He stated that the government's policy of legalizing "young settlements" provides a solid foundation for their demographic and infrastructural growth. Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council, described the transformation of these outposts into thriving towns as a significant milestone for the entire Gush Shiloh area.
