Haifa Airport Fire Drill Simulates Terminal Blaze and Hostage Rescue

Last night, the Kiryat Fire Station conducted a joint nighttime firefighting drill and integration exercise at Haifa Airport. The drill aimed to test and practice emergency preparedness scenarios within a central airport structure.

The exercise simulated a fire on the second floor of the passenger terminal, with the added complication of suspected trapped individuals inside the building. Initial firefighting efforts were carried out by two teams from the Airports Authority Fire Brigade. They were subsequently joined by two teams from the Kiryat Fire Station, under the command of a shift commander.

The teams executed a smooth handover of command and received an initial situation assessment. Concurrently, they practiced firefighting techniques, search and rescue operations for trapped individuals, and smoke ventilation from the building. Upon completion of the exercise, the shift commander declared the simulated incident resolved.

The drill was observed by senior officials including the commander of the Kiryat Fire Station, Fire Superintendent Eitan Riffa, the commander of the Ashkol Aerial Firefighting Station, and the manager of Haifa Airport.
