Syrian President Affirms Golan Will Remain Syrian Territory
Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar'a declared before the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday that the Golan Heights will remain Syrian territory and that all annexation decisions are null and void. He stated that any attempt to impose a fait accompli on the ground cannot undermine Syria's legitimacy, sovereignty, or the rule of international law.
Al-Shar'a emphasized that all annexation measures are invalid under UN Security Council Resolution 497. He urged international partners to uphold international law, stating, "Our demand from our partners is simple: say what international law stipulates."
