Tony Parker Expresses Concern Over ASVEL's Readiness for Maccabi Tel Aviv

Tony Parker, coach of French basketball club ASVEL, has voiced significant concerns about his team's lack of preparation ahead of their EuroLeague season opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday. Parker stated that the team has only been training for a week, putting them at least a month to a month and a half behind other teams in terms of readiness.

"We are not ready, everyone knows it, but it can no longer serve as an excuse," Parker said, emphasizing the need to find solutions to reach the required level. He expressed anticipation for a strong response from his team despite the challenging circumstances.

ASVEL assistant coach Vincent Collet echoed Parker's sentiments, acknowledging that the team will not be fully prepared for the Maccabi Tel Aviv game. Collet also commented on Parker's dual role as coach and player, noting his passion for basketball and his effective interventions on the court during recent training and a tournament in Cagliari.

Player David Lighty described Parker as a coach-player with an NBA style and European feel, who understands players' needs. Guard Edwin Jackson admitted that the preparation was not optimal but believes there is significant room for improvement.
