Elite Counter-Terror Unit Graduates Only 9 Recruits From Over 1,000 Applicants

Only nine recruits successfully completed the rigorous training program to join Israel's National Counter-Terrorism Unit (YAMAM), out of more than a thousand initial candidates. The intensive nine-month course included advanced training in counter-terrorism tactics, hostage rescue, and high-risk interventions.

The candidates, who were drawn from elite combat and special forces units, underwent stringent selection processes before commencing their specialized training. The YAMAM is renowned for its elite operators and its critical role in responding to terror threats within Israel.

Commander of the Border Police, Superintendent General Baruch Yitzhak, addressed the graduating class, emphasizing the unit's heightened importance since the October 7th attacks. He stated, "You are joining a unit that since October 7th has redefined the concepts of courage and self-sacrifice. You are the answer to the citizens of the State of Israel and to the entire world, to our strength and our steadfast resilience."

The graduation highlights the extreme difficulty and selectivity of the YAMAM's training, underscoring the high standards required for operators in one of Israel's most critical security forces.
