Yavne Municipality Urges Residents to Build Sukkot Only on Private Property

Ahead of the Sukkot holiday, the Yavne Municipality has issued guidelines for building sukkot (temporary huts) within the city, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public spaces, accessibility, and safety. Residents are instructed to erect private sukkot only in their own yards or on private balconies. In apartment buildings, sukkot may be built in shared areas, provided there is coordination and agreement with the building's committee and neighbors, and that free passage for all residents is ensured.

The municipality explicitly prohibits the construction of sukkot on sidewalks, bike paths, public gardens and parks, roads, or public parking areas. Any location that would obstruct passage, compromise accessibility, or hinder the movement of emergency vehicles is also off-limits.

The city acknowledges that special circumstances may arise and has established a procedure for residents facing objective difficulties or unusual situations, such as medical constraints or specific needs.
