EasyJet Strikes in Europe May Disrupt Israeli Travelers' Plans

In Portugal, EasyJet flight attendants represented by the Sindicato Nacional do Pessoal de Voo da Aviação Civil (SNPVAC) have announced two strike periods: October 2-6 and December 19-23. The union is demanding higher wages, improved working conditions, and adherence to existing labor agreements, citing issues like unpredictable schedules and staff shortages. EasyJet, however, deems the demands unfeasible, stating that current pay already exceeds the Portuguese average, though negotiations are ongoing.

In France, pilots affiliated with the Syndicat National des Pilotes de Ligne (SNPL) are planning a strike on September 24 and 25. They are seeking more predictable work schedules and better conditions. This action could lead to cancellations and delays for flights serving Paris, Lyon, Nice, Nantes, and Bordeaux.

While specific impacts on direct flights between Israel and European destinations are not yet confirmed, Israeli travelers flying to or from Portugal and France, or those with layovers in affected European cities, should monitor their flight status. EasyJet has stated it is closely monitoring the situation and will directly notify affected passengers if schedules change. Travelers are advised to check their flight status in advance, especially for trips planned for late September, early October, and the December holidays, and to be prepared for potential itinerary changes if connecting flights are canceled.
