Italian Strikes from July 20-23 Threaten Travel Disruptions for Israeli Tourists
Israeli travelers heading to Italy in the coming days should prepare for potential disruptions due to a series of planned strikes affecting various transportation sectors. From July 20 to 23, Italy will experience strikes impacting public transportation, airport ground services, rail maintenance, and ferry operations.
The most significant disruption is expected on July 21, when airport ground staff will strike for 24 hours, particularly affecting Milan Malpensa Airport, one of Italy's main hubs. This could lead to flight delays, baggage handling issues, and other ground service interruptions. On July 20, public transport strikes will hit major cities including Florence, Genoa, Prato, and Latina, while rail maintenance workers in the Verona area will also strike, potentially affecting train services.
Additionally, ferry workers from Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) will hold a nationwide strike on July 22 and 23, possibly causing ferry cancellations and delays. Although not all flights and trains will be canceled, travelers should expect delays and schedule changes. Israeli passengers are advised to check with airlines, train companies, and ferry operators before departure to confirm their travel plans and avoid inconvenience.
