Canadian Firm Brookfield in Exclusive Talks to Buy NICE's Actimize Unit for $2 Billion
Canadian investment firm Brookfield's infrastructure arm is in exclusive negotiations to acquire Actimize, a division of the Israeli company NICE, in a deal reportedly worth around $2 billion. Sky News reported the development on Wednesday. NICE acquired Actimize in 2007 for $280 million. Actimize specializes in cloud and artificial intelligence solutions designed to combat financial crime, prevent money laundering, and ensure regulatory compliance for banks and financial institutions.
If the deal is finalized, NICE would achieve a return of more than seven times its initial investment. NICE's decision earlier this year to put the division up for sale attracted significant interest from major investment firms, including private equity funds Advent International and New Mountain Capital. Brookfield now appears to be leading the acquisition process.
Sources cited in the report indicate that the discussions are advanced but the deal is not yet finalized, and there remains a possibility that negotiations could conclude without an agreement. Brookfield declined to comment on the reports. Meanwhile, NICE's stock saw a slight decrease of approximately 0.5% in early trading on Wall Street.
