A man allegedly carjacked a woman in Haifa over the weekend, then drove off recklessly and caused a crash that injured two people. The suspect was later arrested after a foot chase, and a court extended his detention.
According to the suspicion, the man approached the woman’s car, opened the door, attacked her, and forced her out of the vehicle before stealing it. He then fled toward Haifa’s Hadar neighborhood.
During the getaway, he drove in a dangerous manner that put many pedestrians at risk, hit several vehicles, and caused two people to be lightly wounded, according to medical sources. After the crash, he tried to escape on foot and hide.
Police from the Haifa station located and arrested him. The court granted police’s request and extended the remand of the suspect, a 37-year-old resident of Hadera, until June 22, 2026.
