Prominent Rabbi Announces Departure After Decade Leading Religious Seminary

Rabbi Dr. Esther Fischer announced she will be stepping down from her role as head of the Ein HaNatziv religious seminary within the coming year, concluding a decade in the position and over thirty years of teaching at the institution. Fischer, a graduate of the seminary's first cohort, shared the news on social media, emphasizing the institution's deep personal significance to her, describing it as "part of my identity and who I have been privileged to be."

She expressed gratitude to the seminary, the Kibbutz Religious movement that founded it, and the many scholars she learned from and worked alongside. Fischer stated that her future plans are still developing but she will carry the "Torah of Ein HaNatziv" with her wherever she goes. She also confirmed that Rabbi Yaara Widman Samuel will assume the role of religious and educational leadership at the seminary, while Rabbi Atirat Granovitch will continue to lead the Kiryat Shmona branch.

Fischer conveyed confidence in the future leadership, stating, "From my deep acquaintance with both of them, I am whole and calm that our seminaries are in excellent hands." Additionally, she mentioned that the search for a new CEO for the seminary is concluding, and she wished the incoming executive success.

Concluding her announcement, Fischer shared a quote from Yehuda Amichai's poetry: "For a person leaves the house / And the house does not leave the person," indicating that while she is departing, the seminary's influence will remain with her.
