Leadership Changes and Mergers Reshape Religious Zionist Yeshivas

Significant developments are underway in the Religious Zionist yeshiva world, including new leadership appointments, institutional mergers, and planned departures. Rabbi Shalom Rap, currently a lecturer at Yeshivat Hesder Kiryat Gat and son of retired Colonel Rabbi Geva Rap, has been appointed co-head of Yeshivat Midbar Matana alongside his father-in-law, Rabbi Moti Hess, the yeshiva's veteran founder and leader. Rabbi Rap is an alumnus of Morasha and Har HaMor yeshivot.

In Raanana, Yeshivat Hesder "Binot," led by Rabbi Chaim Retig, is merging with the Tzlach Beit Midrash. The combined institutions began the academic year with nine first-year students and nearly 20 army veterans from both entities, signaling a collaborative future.

Meanwhile, Rabbi Sharel Rozenblat announced his intention to leave Yeshivat Mechaneh after 15 years as head. He plans to devote more time to leading the Center for Israel and Humanity, which he co-founded six years ago with his mentor Rabbi Yaakov Nagen under the Or Torah Stone network. This center and the Belikla Institute promote interfaith dialogue and have produced scholarly works, trained dozens of fellows, and established deep connections with global leaders. Rabbi Rozenblat described this transition as a new chapter allowing him to focus on his long-held vision, personal growth, and renewal. He confirmed that Rabbi Yossi Froman will continue leading Yeshivat Mechaneh during his absence.

These changes reflect a dynamic period of leadership renewal and institutional consolidation within the Religious Zionist yeshiva sector, emphasizing both educational continuity and expanding outreach efforts.
