IDF Grenade Explodes in Kfar Shemaryahu, Second Incident on Same Street

An Israeli military fragmentation grenade exploded overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday in the town of Kfar Shemaryahu, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances. Police received a report of an explosion, and sappers arrived at the scene to collect evidence. The incident is believed to have a criminal background.

This marks the second time in a week that a grenade has been thrown on the same street, which is home to several businesspeople. The previous incident involved an IDF stun grenade that did not detonate. Sources close to the investigation, being handled by the Tel Aviv Central Unit, indicated that police are still unaware of the intended target.

In a separate incident, police arrested a 24-year-old man from Kfar Sulem in the Jezreel Valley on Tuesday on suspicion of possessing a stolen IDF grenade in the city of Afula. Last Friday, a suspicious individual was observed in the backyard of a residential building in the Afula Illit neighborhood, and a stolen IDF fragmentation grenade was found hidden nearby, along with other evidence linking the suspect to the ordnance. A Nazareth Magistrate's Court extended his remand until September 23.

In yet another incident, early Tuesday morning, a grenade was thrown at a house in Or Akiva. No injuries were reported, but vehicles sustained damage. Police have opened an investigation, suspecting a criminal motive, and are examining the circumstances.
