Dead Sea Hotels to Connect to Natural Gas Grid, Saving Millions

Five hotels in the Dead Sea region are slated to connect to the natural gas distribution network by the first quarter of 2027, as part of a project spearheaded by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The government has allocated approximately NIS 22.6 million for this initiative, which involves laying about 21 kilometers of natural gas infrastructure in the area.

Currently, the "Negev Natural Gas" company is completing the installation of an initial 14-kilometer segment, extending from the Dead Sea Works area to a gas station near the entrance to the hotel zone. An additional seven kilometers will be laid subsequently, enabling the connection of five hotels that have already signed agreements: Isrotel Ganim, Isrotel Dead Sea, Herods, Leonardo Club, and Leonardo Plaza.

Upon completion, the hotels' heating and cooking systems are expected to transition to natural gas. The Ministry of Energy estimates this move will save the five hotels a combined total of NIS 2 million annually. The connection will also reduce the use of polluting fuels and potentially allow the hotels to explore local electricity and heat generation using natural gas.

The ministry highlighted the project's particular importance for the Dead Sea area, which hosts large hotels with significant year-round energy consumption. This development follows the connection of the Inbar Hotel in Arad to the natural gas distribution network, which was finalized in November 2025.
