Three Israelis were killed on Sunday when a light aircraft crashed in Maryland, about 30 kilometers east of Washington, D.C. Authorities said the plane was carrying the pilot and two passengers, and none survived.
Emergency dispatchers received an alert near midnight local time. Rescue crews and police rushed to the scene, and after extensive searches the wreckage was found at 3:45 a.m. in a wooded area near a residential neighborhood and a playground.
Initial findings indicate the aircraft had taken off from Ocean City in New Jersey and was heading to Montgomery County, Maryland. State police searched the crash site in the morning, and the full investigation was handed to the National Transportation Safety Board, working with local and state authorities.
The report also said that earlier in the day, two Israelis in their 40s were killed in a car crash in the Malibu area of Los Angeles.
