Opposition Leaders to Convene at Lapid's Home to Coordinate Strategy

Opposition leaders are set to hold a summit meeting at the home of Yair Lapid, chairman of Yesh Atid and the opposition leader, in Tel Aviv this coming Saturday night. The meeting aims to coordinate joint actions among the parties in the "change bloc," which seeks to replace the current government. Expected attendees include former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, chairman of the "Achim" party, Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of "Yashar!", Avigdor Lieberman, chairman of "Yisrael Beiteinu," and Yair Golan, chairman of "The Democrats."

Lapid is hosting the summit as he is perceived as the only leader in the bloc without leadership aspirations, having reportedly accepted he will not lead it. His current focus is on unifying the bloc without anointing a specific candidate for leadership at this stage, promoting unity to achieve a change in government.

Prior to the larger gathering, Eisenkot and Lieberman met to discuss a key tactical question: whether to focus on building the "largest single party" capable of forming a government, or to concentrate on increasing the overall mandate of the entire bloc. Following their meeting, a statement was released indicating their agreement to continue close cooperation and implement necessary steps in coordination with other bloc parties, driven by a commitment to replacing the government.
