Prominent Rabbi's Wife, Hannah Rotenberg, Passes Away at 72

Rabbi Hannah Rotenberg, wife of Rabbi Isaiah Pinchas Rotenberg, passed away at the age of 72 at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Rabbi Rotenberg is the spiritual leader of the 'Gra' Beit Midrash in the Beit Vagan neighborhood of Jerusalem and a prominent halachic decisor.

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1954 to Rabbi Shalom David Horowitz, a leader of Agudat Yisrael, she married Rabbi Isaiah Pinchas Rotenberg, author of the 'Minchat Peri' series. Throughout their marriage, she dedicated herself to supporting his Torah scholarship and public service.

As a second-generation Holocaust survivor, Rotenberg spent decades promoting Jewish heroism and faith. She authored the bestseller "How Could I Not Know," delivered lectures for the 'Nefesh Yehudi' organization, and accompanied educational trips to Poland. Friends and acquaintances described her as a woman of immense charity and kindness, who regularly visited the sick and greeted everyone with warmth.

She is survived by her mother, her husband, four sons, and four sons-in-law, all of whom are prominent rabbis and scholars. Her funeral procession departed Tuesday night from the 'Gra' Beit Midrash in Jerusalem for burial at Har HaMenuchot. The family is observing Shiva, a period of mourning, at their home in Jerusalem until the eve of the holiday.
