Hanina Cohen, a respected educator and the wife of Rabbi Sasson Cohen, the chief rabbi of the Kfar Avraham neighborhood in Petah Tikva, passed away at midnight on Wednesday at the age of 87. Born to Rabbi Yehuda Cohen, she was spiritually nurtured at the prestigious Wolf institutions in Bnei Brak, where she absorbed deep Torah values and piety. She married Rabbi Sasson Cohen, a prominent figure from the Ponovezh Yeshiva, and together they settled in Petah Tikva, where her husband served as the leading rabbi of Kfar Avraham.
Throughout her life, Hanina Cohen was a pillar of support for her husband and the community, guiding and inspiring women in the neighborhood with her kindness and dedication. She was also a distinguished educator who taught thousands of students over decades, instilling strong foundations of Torah and good character. Her passing has left a profound sense of loss in Petah Tikva and the Kfar Avraham community.
Her funeral took place on Thursday at 1:30 PM, starting from her home on Gold Street 5 in Petah Tikva and proceeding to the Segula cemetery. The family is sitting shiva at the Tzror HaMor synagogue on Yona Green Street 18 in Petah Tikva. The community mourns the loss of a revered figure who dedicated her life to education and communal service.
