25 Dogs Rescued from Abysmal Conditions in Southern Israel

By יוגב ישראלי
Translated & summarized from Ynet by baba
The story · English

Twenty-five dogs were rescued from a compound in a southern Israeli village after being kept in severe neglect. Inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Central Enforcement and Investigations Unit, known as "Pitzuach," arrived at the scene following a report from the Western Negev Veterinary Service. They were joined by veterinarians and inspectors from the veterinary service, as well as a Border Police unit.

Upon entering the first structure, inspectors were met with a strong odor of urine and feces. Inside the sealed, unventilated building, ten small breed dogs were found. Their enclosures were covered in waste, their water containers were foul, and the dogs themselves exhibited infections and wounds. A second structure presented similar conditions, with accumulated waste and raw chicken meat scattered on the floor. One female dog had a fresh, deep wound on her neck.

Following these findings, the dogs were transferred to a protected facility under the Ministry of Agriculture for medical treatment and rehabilitation. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the owner of the property, who has been summoned for questioning.

This rescue follows a similar operation last week where approximately 300 dogs were saved from a compound near Ra'anana, also found to be in poor living conditions and subsequently transferred for care.
