Israel Investigates Lynch Attempt on Israelis in Jenin

Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency have arrested two suspects in connection with an incident where an Israeli woman and her son mistakenly drove into Jenin on August 13. The prosecution plans to indict the suspects in the coming days. The mother and son were traveling from Samaria to Afula when they took a wrong turn and entered Jenin. According to police, a crowd surrounded their car, blocked its path, and smashed the windows. Police have classified the event as an attempted lynching. The driver managed to escape and reach Israeli security forces.

The investigation was conducted by the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police and the Shin Bet. After identifying the suspects, they were apprehended and interrogated. A court extended their detention multiple times. Following the collection of evidence, the case file has been transferred for the preparation of an indictment.

Israeli law prohibits citizens from entering Area A cities. Police advise citizens to check their routes in advance and to immediately contact emergency services if they accidentally enter such areas.
