Nissim Sasportas Appointed CEO of Israeli Paralympic Committee

The Israeli Paralympic Committee has appointed Nissim Sasportas as its new CEO, following a recommendation from Committee Chairman Moshe Motz Matlon. This strategic move comes as the committee prepares for the upcoming Los Angeles Games in less than two years.

Sasportas, who currently serves as CEO of the Association for Paralympic Sports, will now hold both positions. He will work alongside Matlon to lead the preparation of the Israeli delegation for the LA Games. Matlon described Sasportas's selection as "natural," citing his decade-long involvement with both organizations and his deep understanding of the athletes and the broader ecosystem.

"I am grateful to Moshe and the board members for the trust they have placed in me and for choosing me for the role of CEO of the Committee," Sasportas stated. "I am returning to this role with a deep familiarity with the system and the great responsibility it entails. I am well aware of the magnitude of the task and the importance of the period ahead, and together with the chairman and the professional teams, I will do everything for the success of the athletes and the advancement of Paralympic sports in Israel."

The Association for Paralympic Sports and the Paralympic Committee are distinct non-profit organizations that manage and represent competitive activities for athletes with motor and visual impairments. The Association oversees approximately 20 sports disciplines, similar to non-Paralympic sports federations. The Paralympic Committee, analogous to the Olympic Committee, is responsible for preparing Israel's Paralympic delegation, including awarding scholarships, promoting Paralympic values, and representing Israel internationally.
