First Woman Appointed CEO of Israeli Disabled Veterans Organization

The Organization of Disabled IDF Veterans has appointed Liron Sagie Cohen as its new CEO, marking the first time a woman has held the position. Sagie Cohen, who has been with the organization for six years, previously served as CEO of the Friends Association and head of the marketing department. During her tenure, she led national initiatives, fundraising efforts, and strengthened the organization's ties with Israeli society and the diaspora.

Sagie Cohen will lead the organization during a critical period, as it faces the need to significantly expand rehabilitation, treatment, and support services for thousands of new casualties from the Swords of Iron War, in addition to its existing tens of thousands of members and their families. She will succeed Yossi Matitya, who is concluding a four-year term. Matitya, himself a disabled IDF veteran and a lieutenant colonel in reserves, guided the organization through a complex period, particularly since the outbreak of the war.

During Matitya's leadership, key developments included the establishment of the Beit HaLoychem (House of the Fighter) in Ashdod, the Post-Trauma and Career departments, and the Content and Programs department, alongside expanded support for families. A structured handover period between Sagie Cohen and Matitya will take place in the coming months to ensure continuity.

Idan Kalman, Chairman of the Organization of Disabled IDF Veterans, thanked Matitya for his dedicated service and significant contributions, especially in expanding services since the war began. He expressed confidence in Sagie Cohen's ability to lead the organization forward, citing her blend of compassion, values, leadership skills, and deep understanding of the organization and the needs of disabled veterans and their families.
