Degel HaTorah Holds Election Campaign Meeting, With Yaakov Asher Leading

Degel HaTorah, a key faction within the United Torah Judaism party, held a preparatory meeting for the upcoming election campaign on Tuesday. Notably, MK Yaakov Asher, who is slated to head the party's list and potentially the entire United Torah Judaism slate, presided over the gathering. The meeting, which took place at the Concord Hall in Bnei Brak, included current MKs Yitzhak Pindrus and Asher, alongside newly designated candidates Moshe Rosenthal, Yehuda Weissfish, Dudi Zaltz, David Ohana, and former MK Eliyahu Brochi, whose placement on the list is considered precarious.

The official statement from Degel HaTorah, issued by spokesperson Yaakov Mogenbesser, stated that the candidates convened to discuss key messages, work procedures, and planned activities for the coming weeks. This meeting marks the first time the designated candidates have gathered since the recent internal party upheaval.

Last week, Degel HaTorah held a similar meeting shortly after the controversial ousting of veteran lawmakers Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev. That gathering, which also included the newly selected candidates, was described as a 'launch and preparation' session. Reports from that time indicated that the meeting aimed to rally voters for the joint 'United Torah Judaism' list, which includes Agudat Yisrael and MK Meir Porush's new party.

A source present at the recent meeting confirmed it lasted over an hour and emphasized the full cooperation between Gafni and Maklev and the new representatives.
