Iran's Foreign Minister Urges US to Break Free From Israeli Influence

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran has lost faith in the United Nations in its current form, citing Western influence that prevents serious condemnation of Israeli actions. Araghchi made these remarks to reporters in New York, as reported by Iran's state news agency IRNA.

He explained that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian would use his address at the UN General Assembly to advocate for the rights and interests of the Iranian people. Pezeshkian intends to publicly criticize the lack of Western response to events in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and within Iran itself. "Therefore, naturally, there is no longer any trust in an organization influenced by these countries," Araghchi added.

Furthermore, Araghchi urged the United States to "throw off the shackles imposed on them by Israel." He characterized the Iranian delegation's current visit as occurring amidst an unfair confrontation instigated by the United States and Israeli leadership.

This statement comes as former US President Donald Trump indicated he might be open to a personal meeting with President Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The Iranian side has not yet officially commented on this possibility, focusing instead on the president's upcoming official addresses.
