Police Arrest Teenager Suspected of Planning Attack After Suspicious Online Messages
Police in Bnei Brak arrested a minor from southern Israel on Tuesday morning, whom they suspect made "suspicious statements during an online conversation." Following a report, officers initiated a search, located the suspect, and apprehended him. The 16-year-old, a resident of Laqia, was reportedly identified after sending messages to a police chatbot expressing his intention to carry out an attack. Police used phone tracking to locate the suspect in the Ramat Gan area. Officers who arrested him did not find any weapons in his possession.
The suspect is currently being interrogated at the police station to clarify the circumstances of the incident. This arrest follows a recent attack on the eve of Yom Kippur, when an assailant shot at a group of Jews at a spring near Neve Tzuf, resulting in the death of Natanel Shokron. After that attack, Duvdevan unit fighters located and arrested the suspect in a Ramallah hospital after he was injured while attempting to flee the scene.
