Boy George Announces Concert in Israel Amidst Public Support

British pop star Boy George will perform in Israel on November 4 at the Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv, as part of an international tour. The concert, announced by producers Guy Besser, Shay Mor Yosef, and Live Nation Israel, will feature a 360-degree stage setup in the center of the arena. This event marks a rare appearance by an international artist in Israel during a period where such performances have become infrequent.

In recent months, Boy George has publicly expressed his support for Israel and the Jewish community. During the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, he declined to join calls for boycotting the competition due to Israel's participation, stating he would not abandon his Jewish friends. In July, he released the song "We Will Dance Again," dedicated to the victims of the October 7 Nova festival massacre. The song defends Israel against accusations of genocide in Gaza and criticizes artists opposing the country.

The song's release led to professional repercussions for Boy George. Days after its publication, he withdrew from the West End production of "Jesus Christ Superstar," where he was slated to play Herod. He also parted ways with his record label manager, who refused to release the song. Boy George commented on the situation, stating, "Because of my decision to stand by my Jewish friends, I am losing some people from my life."

Boy George rose to fame in the 1980s as the lead singer of Culture Club, known for hits like "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." He has performed in Israel previously, including a 2017 concert at the Menora Mivtachim Arena with the band, featuring Dana International as a guest.

Ticket prices for the upcoming concert range from 280 to 799 shekels, with sales opening on September 23 at 12:00 PM.
