German Car of the Year 2027 Finalists Announced

The "Car of the Year in Germany" competition has revealed its finalists, with the overall winner set to be announced in November. The finalists have been selected across various categories, many of which are familiar to the Israeli market, with some expected to arrive soon.

In the compact car category, the Kia PV5 was chosen despite its classification as a mid-size commercial vehicle, similar to the Citroën Jumpy, with a price range of €25,000-€40,000. This model, offering a passenger configuration, is anticipated to join the local market by the end of the year.

The performance car of the year is the Hyundai Ioniq 6N, an electric sedan based on the acclaimed Ioniq 5N, which has received global praise since its June arrival in Israel. The premium car of the year is the third-generation Mercedes GLC, priced between €40,000-€70,000. Introduced last September and arriving in Israel in June, it is offered with three powertrains delivering up to 489 horsepower and a range of up to 663 km.

In the luxury car category, the XPeng X9 minivan, priced above €70,000, has landed in Israel. It features a single powertrain with 347 horsepower, a 615 km range, and a particularly luxurious interior. The award for best exterior design went to the Renault Twingo E-Tech, a fully electric, five-door retro-styled model introduced in November 2025. Its arrival in Israel is not yet confirmed, but its design has generated significant interest.

Additionally, the Porsche 911 Turbo S received recognition for its engine. This iconic car's Turbo S version boasts a new 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine producing 711 horsepower, making it the most powerful 911 to date, and is also available as a convertible.
