Shomron Regional Council Head Demands Military Operation After Settler's Killing

Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, eulogized Natanel Sharon, who was killed in a terrorist attack, and called on the Israeli government to launch a significant military operation. Speaking at Sharon's funeral in the Ali Zahav cemetery, Dagan described Sharon as a devout Jew murdered for being proud of his heritage in his homeland.

Dagan recounted Sharon's final moments, noting that he saved his son Yoav's life by telling him to run. He praised Yoav as a hero for obeying his father, suggesting his actions likely saved others at the spring where the attack occurred.

Addressing Sharon's family, Dagan pledged unwavering support and promised to continue Sharon's legacy. He concluded by directly addressing the government, stating that the entire nation expects a strong response to the "abominable murder."

Dagan demanded the government authorize a substantial military operation, reinstate roadblocks in the area, and conduct operations to collect weapons. He also called for a change in approach to address the underlying infrastructure of terrorism, including specific villages and imams who incite violence. "The people of Israel expect the government to exact a price on the ground," Dagan stated, emphasizing Israeli sovereignty over the land.
