Three Israelis Detained in Egypt for Six Months on Security Charges

Three Israeli citizens have been held in detention in Egypt for approximately six months, with the official reasons for their arrest remaining undisclosed. According to Kan radio, the detainees are residents of a Bedouin village in the Negev. Their families have been informed that the arrests are not related to criminal suspicions but rather to matters concerning Egyptian national security, and that Egyptian intelligence services are handling the case.

Kan reporters Roi Yanovsky and Roi Kais, citing relatives of the detained men, reported that the three traveled to the Sinai Peninsula for a vacation in March. They were apprehended while attempting to return to Israel at the Taba border crossing. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reportedly involved in addressing the situation, though neither the Israeli nor the Egyptian governments have officially commented on the detentions.
