IDF Strikes Gaza After Border Device Detonates, Hamas Infrastructure Hit

On Monday, during Yom Kippur, an engineering vehicle belonging to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) detonated a roadside bomb while on routine patrol near the Gaza Strip's border fence. No Israeli soldiers were harmed in the incident. The IDF stated that the explosion constituted a severe breach of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas.

In response, the IDF launched retaliatory strikes targeting Hamas infrastructure used to advance terror plots against Israeli civilians and soldiers. The IDF Southern Command forces are deployed in the area according to the agreement and will continue to operate to neutralize immediate threats, according to an IDF spokesperson.

This incident follows a series of unusual occurrences along the Gaza border in recent weeks. Over the past two weeks, two separate incidents involved Palestinian suspects crossing the security barrier and approaching IDF positions at very close range. In one documented instance, a suspect was seen moving hundreds of meters unimpeded toward parked military vehicles and a guard post before being fired upon by a soldier.

In another recent event, a militant crossed the border fence and reached a short distance from IDF positions. Reports indicate one suspect was arrested and another was killed in these separate border incursions.

Concurrently, Israel's security establishment is conducting a broad, multi-dimensional offensive across various fronts to thwart terror infrastructure. IDF, Shin Bet, and Border Police forces are operating continuously, maintaining high alert and engaging in operations aimed at disrupting terror cells before they can execute attacks. In a recent operation in the West Bank village of Kafrat, the Duvdevan unit and Border Police arrested two dangerous militants planning an imminent terror attack, thwarting a potentially deadly incident.
