Gaza Ceasefire Tested as IDF Vehicle Hits Bomb; Hamas Infrastructure Targeted

A Hamas bomb detonated on an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) engineering vehicle near the Gaza Strip's northern border on Sunday, testing the fragile ceasefire. No soldiers were injured in the explosion, which occurred during routine operations along the "yellow line," a term referring to the border fence.

In response, the IDF launched airstrikes against Hamas infrastructure, which the military stated was used by the terror group to advance terror plots against Israeli civilians and soldiers. The IDF characterized the bomb's detonation as a "blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Hamas terror organization."

Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to address immediate threats. The circumstances of the incident, including when the bomb was placed, are under investigation.

This incident follows a similar event earlier this month when an IDF engineering vehicle struck a bomb in the same area, also without casualties. Following that earlier incident, the IDF also attacked Hamas infrastructure that it claimed was used for terror activities.
