Prominent Rabbi Dies During Final Prayers at Jerusalem Hospital

Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Reiner, a respected member of the Adat Yerushalayim 'Ha'Matmidim' community in Beitar Illit, passed away at the age of 63 at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. He had fallen ill in the past year and died during the concluding prayers, known as 'Neilah,' on Yom Kippur.

Born in 1963, Rabbi Reiner was the son of Rabbi Eliyahu Reiner, a prominent figure in the Mea Shearim neighborhood and a student of Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Elyashiv. His mother was Chava Zissel Reiner. He married the daughter of Rabbi Boruch Reuven Shlomo Rubin, a student of the Kabbalist Rabbi Shimon Ze'ev Rubin.

Rabbi Reiner was known for his cheerful disposition and his work at a matzah bakery. For decades, he served as the cantor for the Neilah prayer at the Matmidim synagogue in Beitar Illit. His passing during the same prayer service at the hospital was seen as a poignant end to his life.
