Dia Saba Scores as Amedspor Takes Top Spot in Turkish League

Israeli footballer Dia Saba scored a goal from outside the box on Sunday, helping his team Amedspor to a 3-2 victory over Besiktas. The win propelled Amedspor to the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings with 15 points from six matches, surpassing Galatasaray, who have 13 points. Besiktas sits in third place with 12 points.

Saba's goal in the 22nd minute, assisted by Gift Orban who had opened the scoring in the 13th minute, put Amedspor up 2-0. Besiktas managed to pull one back in the 55th minute through Dusan Vlahovic, but Amedspor quickly re-established their two-goal lead with a strike from Paul Onuachu in the 59th minute. A late penalty from Hakan Calhanoglu in the 98th minute was not enough for Besiktas to salvage a draw.

Turkish media lauded the performance, with one report stating, "Dia Saba and his teammates did not ease up, even when numerically disadvantaged. This team can still win the championship. Despite the team's success, Saba remained grounded, stating, "We worked well in the first half, the game could have ended 0-2 but I am very satisfied. We are in first place, but we are at a very early stage of the season. We worked hard in every game to get here."
