Dia Saba Scores as Amedspor Takes Top Spot in Turkish League

Israeli footballer Dia Saba scored a crucial goal for Amedspor in their 3-2 victory over Besiktas on Sunday, propelling the team to the top of the Turkish Super Lig. Saba netted the second goal for Amedspor with a shot from outside the box in the 22nd minute, after Gift Orban opened the scoring in the 13th.

Amedspor now leads the league with 15 points from six matches, surpassing Galatasaray, who are second with 13 points. Besiktas, despite featuring players like Dusan Vlahovic and Alexander Nübel, sits in third place with 12 points.

Besiktas managed to pull one goal back in the 55th minute through Vlahovic, but Amedspor quickly restored their two-goal advantage with a strike from Souleymane Soulaimankou in the 59th minute. A late penalty from Rachid Ghezzal in the 98th minute narrowed the deficit for Besiktas, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Turkish media lauded Amedspor's performance, with one report stating, "Dia Saba and his teammates did not let up, even when numerically disadvantaged. This team can still win the championship. You simply cannot leave Saba unmarked." Popular commentator Gani Müjde described Saba as a player who "amazes you every time anew" with his footballing intelligence.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Saba remained grounded, telling Sport5, "We worked well in the first half, the game could have ended 0-2, but I am very satisfied. We are in first place, but we are at a very early stage of the season. We worked hard in every game to get here."
