IDF Chief Orders Blockade, House Demolition After West Bank Terror Attack

The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, visited the site of a deadly terrorist attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf (also known as Halamish) in the Binyamin Brigade's area of responsibility. He conducted a situation assessment and reviewed the incident with senior officers, including the Commander of the Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, and the Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brigadier General Kobi Heller, along with representatives from the Israel Police and the Shin Bet security agency.

Following the assessment, Zamir issued urgent orders to impose a blockade on the Palestinian village from which the attacker originated, continue the search for potential accomplices, and seal and subsequently demolish the terrorist's home. "This is a severe terrorist attack, and on behalf of the IDF, I express my condolences to the family of the murdered man," Zamir stated. "We quickly concluded the operation, the vile terrorist was apprehended by IDF forces. Our mission is not over, we will impose a blockade on the village, conduct investigations, and hold accountable all those who aided the terrorist."

Zamir noted that the IDF had increased its forces and readiness, particularly in anticipation of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. He emphasized that the army remains on high alert and has bolstered its presence across all fronts, especially during the holiday period, to prevent attacks, counter threats, and protect Israeli citizens.

The attacker fled the scene after the incident but was later apprehended by IDF soldiers. Palestinian sources reported his arrest in the center of Ramallah.
