Joint List to Form Parliamentary Lobby for Arab Municipalities
The Joint List party has agreed to establish a "parliamentary lobby" in the upcoming Knesset term to address issues facing Arab local authorities. This decision followed meetings held on Sunday in Tayibe and Tira between Joint List leaders, including Professor Yousef Jabareen and MK Dr. Ahmad Tibi, and the mayors of Tayibe and Tira, Yahya Haj Yahya and Mamoun Abd al-Hai, respectively.
The discussions highlighted significant problems faced by Arab municipalities, including discrimination, budget shortages, and the redirection of approved funds to Jewish towns. Participants also addressed policies that hinder development, limit essential services, and prevent economic and housing projects for youth in Arab communities.
Jabareen and Tibi affirmed that issues concerning Arab local authorities will be a top priority for the Joint List in the next Knesset. They pledged to pursue and address these matters through parliamentary action.
