Palestinian gunman who shot near Halamish captured in Ramallah hospital

A Palestinian gunman who opened fire with an automatic rifle near the Halamish settlement and the Ein Raya reservoir was apprehended in Ramallah after a large-scale manhunt. Intelligence indicated the suspect had "hospitalized" himself in the city's hospital with a gunshot wound.

Minutes after the attack, a tracker from a regional division recognized the fleeing gunman and shot him from a distance. The suspect managed to escape and proceeded to the nearest hospital, apparently hoping to evade capture by feigning injury while searches were conducted in surrounding areas.

However, the General Security Service (Shin Bet) received information about a man matching the suspect's description arriving at the emergency room with a gunshot wound. Security forces then proceeded to Ramallah to make the arrest. The suspect is currently being interrogated.

Meanwhile, the Hamas terror group issued a statement praising the attack. "The Islamic Resistance Movement welcomes the heroic operation with firearms carried out by one of our people's heroes near the Halamish settlement, near Ramallah. This serves as a powerful practical response to the statements and provocative, demonstrative incursions of the criminal Netanyahu into the tunnels under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque," the statement read. It remains unclear what "incursion" Hamas was referring to, possibly alluding to long-standing media reports about secret Israeli construction under the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
