Sources reveal that over two years after Benayoun left the Israeli national team and Zahavi played his last game for the squad, their relationship remains strained. This was evident at a recent Israeli national team legends event, where both attended but did not interact, not even exchanging a handshake or conversation. This lack of contact underscores the ongoing tension stemming from a past team room dispute.

While Zahavi rejoined the national team after the initial conflict, the reconciliation was reportedly superficial, primarily for the team's benefit.
