Shomron Council Head Demands Offensive Action After West Bank Shooting

Following a severe shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the West Bank, Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, is demanding a shift from defensive to offensive security operations. The attack, which occurred Sunday at the Ein Ra'aya spring, left a Shomron resident in critical condition after being shot by assailants in a passing vehicle with Palestinian license plates. The injured man was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital.

Security forces were deployed to the area, initiating a manhunt for the perpetrators and establishing roadblocks. Social services teams from the Shomron and Benjamin regional councils, along with local emergency response teams, are providing support to the victim's family. Dagan, en route to the hospital, expressed prayers for the victim's recovery and commended the soldiers pursuing the attackers.

Dagan called for increased security force activity within Palestinian villages, advocating for house-to-house searches to confiscate illegal weapons and dismantle terror infrastructure. He also urged the immediate reinstatement of security checkpoints on roads, stating that terrorists should not be allowed to move freely and that Israel must transition to an offensive posture to restore deterrence and security. Dagan asserted that the settlement movement would not be broken.
