Israeli Soccer Player Jonathan Cohen to Miss Match for Yom Kippur
Israeli attacking midfielder Jonathan Cohen, currently playing for Bangkok United in the Thai League, will miss his team's match against BG Pathum United on Sunday due to Yom Kippur. This marks the first time in his career that Cohen has had to miss a game because of the Jewish Day of Atonement.
Cohen explained his decision on social media, stating, "There are moments when values and faith are above all else." He added that after three years playing abroad, this is the first time Yom Kippur has fallen on a game day. He wished his team success from afar and extended New Year greetings to all.
Cohen joined Bangkok United this past summer after playing for Hapoel Petah Tikva last season. He has had a strong start in Thailand, providing two assists in his debut match, a 3-1 victory over Sisaket.
