Northern Israel Community Rallies for Yom Kippur Prayers at Kiryat Shmona Yeshiva

Over 500 former students and family members are expected to gather at the Hesder Yeshiva in Kiryat Shmona on Sunday for Yom Kippur prayers, creating the largest prayer quorum in the "Finger of the Galilee" region. The event aims to bolster community and religious spirit in the area, particularly in light of the complex security situation that has affected northern Israel since the start of the war. Preparations for the large influx of worshippers are extensive, with mattresses laid out in classrooms, nearby guesthouses booked a month in advance, and local mikvahs converted for male use for the day.

In addition to the main gathering, approximately 60 students and alumni will travel to various kibbutzim and communities across the Galilee and Golan Heights, including Kfar Giladi, Amir, Menara, Malkia, Shamir, Neot Mordechai, and Neve Ativ, to lead holiday prayers. Organizers state that the large attendance and outreach to surrounding communities signify a return and strengthening of community and religious life in the Upper Galilee, despite ongoing security challenges.

The Hesder Yeshiva views this event as a powerful expression of renewed communal and religious life in the Galilee, emphasizing resilience amidst the difficult security reality in the North since the war began.
