Thousands Attend Final Penitential Prayers in Tel Aviv
Thousands of people gathered on Tel Baruch beach in Tel Aviv on Saturday night for the final penitential prayers, known as Selichot, ahead of Yom Kippur. The event, organized by the Union of Community Rabbis in Israel and institutions honoring Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, featured prominent rabbis including Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Rabbi Zevadia Cohen, and Rabbi Peretz Einhorn, along with neighborhood rabbis.
Singer Ben Snof joined the proceedings, accompanying the prayers. The gathering also included a public ceremony for the annulment of vows, a traditional practice before the Day of Atonement.
The event is part of the preparations for Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, which falls on the tenth day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. The Selichot prayers are recited in the period leading up to Yom Kippur to seek forgiveness.
