East Jerusalem Man Charged with Murder Over Sister's Broken Engagement
Prosecutors have filed murder charges against Abd Odeh, a resident of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan. He is accused of fatally shooting Hassain Dar Issa, another East Jerusalem resident.
Simultaneously, Islam Alqram, from the Issawiya neighborhood, was charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting after the fact. According to the prosecution, the motive for the murder stemmed from a dispute that erupted after Odeh's sister's engagement was called off with another individual involved in the incident, Mustafa Abu Kalbin.
Issa was shot and killed during a meeting with Abu Kalbin, Odeh, and Alqram. The indictment states that Odeh and Alqram attacked Issa and his brother with a knife and a handgun. Odeh is specifically charged with premeditated murder, aggravated assault, and illegal possession and transport of a weapon.
