Israel Shells Southern Lebanon; Child Injured by Unexploded Ordnance

Israeli military operations continued in southern Lebanese towns and villages starting early Sunday. The town of Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district experienced a series of explosions and sweeps by Israeli forces. The National News Agency reported that the Israeli army carried out explosions within Majdal Zoun as part of ongoing actions in southern Lebanon, also conducting demolitions in the towns of Majdal Zoun and Tair Harfa.

In the Bint Jbeil district, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Aita al-Jabal and its surroundings, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Separately, a child was injured by an explosion from unexploded ordnance in the town of Debaal, also in the Tyre district. The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Earlier, Israeli warplanes conducted raids on the Wadi al-Slouqi and Wadi al-Hujair valleys. In the town of Mansouri, Tyre district, explosions were heard near the town's outskirts and the Sayyad houses area from midnight. Additionally, the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyya, near Mefdoum, were hit by Israeli artillery fire around midnight Saturday.

These developments occur amidst ongoing tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border. Lebanon and Israel signed a US-mediated framework agreement on June 26, which includes security arrangements like the gradual deployment of the Lebanese army and Israeli withdrawal, alongside reconstruction and economic recovery measures. However, the implementation of its provisions continues to face obstacles.
