Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Spy Accused of Aiding in 2025 War

Iran has announced the execution of Hossein Pedaran, who was convicted of espionage for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency. According to Iranian authorities, Pedaran provided intelligence on military sites and missile positions in the Isfahan province. They claim some of this information was utilized during a "12-day war" in June 2025. The authorities also stated that Pedaran initially attempted to offer his services to the CIA via their official website but received no response. He then reportedly contacted Mossad, communicating with an officer identifying himself as "Ben." Through this contact, Pedaran allegedly submitted reports detailing military facilities, personnel, and their spouses' contact information, using multiple SIM cards registered to others. He was reportedly given a remote-controlled camera by Mossad. Pedaran allegedly ceased contact after the 2025 war and re-established contact with Mossad at the beginning of hostilities against Iran in February of this year. Following his arrest, authorities claim to have found a notebook with classified missile data and encrypted storage devices at his residence. The exact dates of his detention and trial were not specified in the official announcements. This execution is part of a series of sentences Iran has carried out for alleged espionage on behalf of Israel. Human rights organizations have documented cases where individuals detained during anti-government protests are later accused of working for Israeli intelligence.
