Israeli Forces Injure Two, Burn Hospital in Southern Lebanon Raids

Israeli forces conducted a series of raids across southern Lebanon on Friday, involving artillery shelling, incursions, and explosions, which resulted in two injuries. The Israeli military also set fire to the Mays al-Jabal governmental hospital. In the town of Shaqra, two individuals were wounded by Israeli artillery fire and taken to Tibnin Governmental Hospital. Other shelling hit the Nahleh valley near the town. In the same district, Israeli vehicles advanced from the town of Tairi towards the outskirts of Haddatha after Israeli forces dropped illumination flares over Haddatha and Aita al-Jabal during the night. Israeli forces also carried out an explosion near Ainatha and an Israeli drone dropped a bomb towards Haris.

In the Marjayoun district, tensions arose near the town of Deir Mimas between the Lebanese Army and an Israeli force that approached a newly established Lebanese Army observation post. The Lebanese Army stated that the post was set up on September 10 to monitor residents checking their agricultural lands. An Israeli force approached the post, which Israel considers within its "security zone," and fired sound grenades, prompting the Lebanese Army to reinforce the position. The Israeli force eventually withdrew after communications facilitated by a military coordination group. The National News Agency reported that Israeli forces searched homes in Deir Mimas before withdrawing.

Separately, Israeli forces set fire to the Mays al-Jabal governmental hospital, an act the Lebanese Ministry of Health described as a "complete war crime." In the Tyre district, Israeli artillery shelled the towns of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun again after intense shelling overnight. Israeli forces conducted two explosions, one in Mansouri and another in Bayadiyeh, with shells also falling in the al-Aziya valley.

In the Nabatieh district, an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on a building in Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, while Israeli warplanes flew at medium altitude over the northern Akkar region and the eastern Bekaa Valley. These events follow a series of Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, including airstrikes, shelling, gunfire, explosions, bulldozing, and arson.

Lebanon and Israel had reached a preliminary de-escalation agreement on June 26, mediated by the United States, aiming for a gradual Israeli withdrawal and the deployment of the Lebanese Army. However, Israeli forces continue to occupy areas in southern Lebanon, and military operations persist. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks since March 2 have resulted in 4,386 deaths and 12,407 injuries, bringing the total casualties since October 8, 2023, to 8,953 dead and 30,643 wounded.
